Introducing the Air Walkers, an innovative concept designed specifically for ambitious basketball players, regardless of gender. This revolutionary footwear offers enhanced safety by incorporating a unique pump air action system that ensures an impressive 99% air-tight seal. The Air Walkers not only provide superior protection for the entire foot but also prioritize optimal performance. The shoe’s remarkable “sol-gel” material is the culmination of extensive research, combining an exceptionally low density with advanced thermal plastic properties. This cutting-edge design promises unparalleled comfort, durability, and flexibility, enabling players to reach their full potential on the court while pushing the boundaries of basketball footwear technology.
Programs
Sketching and Concept Development
The design process commenced with sketching the shoe design concept on traditional paper or using digital sketching tools. This initial step allowed the team to explore various ideas and iterate on different design elements. By sketching the shoes, they began to define the proportions, contours, and overall aesthetics of the boat-inspired design. These sketches served as a foundation for the subsequent steps in the design process.
Virtual Exploration and Inspiration with Gravity Sketch
Building upon the initial sketches, the team transitioned to Gravity Sketch, a VR design tool. Immersed in the virtual environment, they translated their 2D sketches into 3D models. Using hand gestures and controllers, they sculpted and refined the shoe design in real-time, taking advantage of Gravity Sketch’s intuitive interface and interactive features. This allowed the team to experiment with different shapes, volumes, and design details, ensuring that the boat-inspired elements seamlessly integrated with the overall shoe design.
3D Modeling and Material Creation with Adobe Substance 3D:
Once the virtual design in Gravity Sketch reached a satisfactory stage, the team imported the 3D model into Adobe Substance 3D. This versatile material creation software enabled them to refine and customize the appearance of the shoe design. They carefully selected and manipulated textures, colors, and materials, aiming to recreate the desired boat-inspired aesthetics and characteristics. By utilizing Substance 3D’s extensive material library and powerful tools, they achieved a high level of realism and visual fidelity in the virtual representation of the shoes.
Conclusion
The project’s design process began with sketching the shoe concept, which served as the starting point for the exploration of boat-inspired design elements. Leveraging Gravity Sketch and Adobe Substance 3D, the team seamlessly transitioned from 2D sketches to virtual 3D models, refining the design and material aesthetics along the way. This case study exemplifies the power of combining traditional sketching with cutting-edge VR and material creation technologies to create extraordinary shoe designs that push the boundaries of fashion and technology
